Richard and His Sketchbook. Toy Shoppe exclusive edition produced to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the 1905 teddy bear design by Richard Steiff that revolutionized the teddy bear industry. Richard Steiff, nephew of Steiff founder, Margarete Steiff. The original 1905 teddy was made of beautiful brown mohair that aged over the years into a rich silver gray color. This reproduction is made of custom made silver gray mohair with a warm gray backing to simulate the aging process of the original bear. Airbrushed detail ads to his authentic, antique appearance. Richard comes with a small sketchbook featuring re-prints of original artwork done by Richard Steiff. Along with his sketches, Richard used his sketchbook to make observations and notes about the animals he was studying. His original sketchbook is in the Steiff Archives in Germany. Richard stands 18" tall, is fully articulated and has a great growler! LE of 1500. Mint condition.
